
Vanilla Porridge Served with Honey Poached Pears

Ingredients
Prepare the poached pears first:
1 firm pear such as Buerre Bosc- peeled and halved with core removed
1 cup water
1 Tablespoon J. Friend and Co Pohutukawa Honey
Warm the water and honey together then add the pear halves, cover and simmer gently until the pear has softened slightly and the liquid has reduced to a light syrup consistency, (approximately 10-15minutes). Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature.
Method
For the porridge:
½ cup fine rolled oats
1/8 tsp ground vanilla pod
1 cup water or ½ cup full cream milk and ½ cup water
Pinch salt
Place all the ingredients in a saucepan and stir gently until the porridge has thickened. Spoon the prepared porridge into a bowl and spoon over the poached pear halves and syrup. Serve with Greek yoghurt and an extra drizzle of warmed honey if desired!
